Yodobashi Camera

Yodobashi Camera Co, Ltd. is a chain of giant electronics across Japan (honten in Akihabara), one of which is located in Chiba City.

If you're shopping for electronics goods, home appliances, computer parts, video games, digital cameras, etc. in the Chiba City area, Yodobashi is probably your best bet (unless you are specifically after computer parts and are savvy enough to go for discount parts at Dos Para).

Also a good place to go to set up an internet connection or buy a new mobile phone, as all companies are represented in one place (and they often have nifty bonus incentives, like a near-free Nintendo DS or something).

Tip: Get a point card! It essentially converts 5-20% of the cost of your purchases (which, being electronics, are frequently expensive) to store credit for use at a following date.

Fun Trivia: Quoting wikipedia, "The store's theme song is a bouncy cover of | The Battle Hymn of the Republic" (that slowly drives employees and guests alike to insanity).

  • Location (Chiba City): Go out the main exit of JR Chiba Station (east exit). You should see a massive sign for Yodobashi in the near distance. Walk straight out, under the half dome thing, go up the middle of the three streets. It's on your left. view via google maps
