KatsuuraFrom ChibaWikiTemplate:Nihongo is a small city located in the center of Chiba Prefecture with a population of about 20,000 people. Add more geographical information here - describe where this town lies in relation to other big places. More general background information here.
TransportationGetting inTo/from the airportTake a train from the Narita Line out of Narita Airport down to Chiba City. From there, transfer to the Sotobo Line and take it to Katsuura.
By trainKatsuura can be reached via the Sotobo line, about an hour and a half south of Chiba city. Taking the local train from Chiba costs roughly 1200 yen. Alternatively, you can ride the Wakashio Express train which goes up the Sotobo line and switches to the Keisei Line. As a result, it doesn't stop at Chiba, but at Soga instead. However, this train can take you directly to Shinjuku. it is a far more comfortable and fast way to get to Tokyo, but is accordingly more expensive.
By busThere are six express buses that go directly from Katsuura station to Tokyo Station. They only come every 1.5 hours, but are generally empty and comfortable. They cost roughly 2000 yen one-way. By carGetting aroundThe central area of the city is generally traversable on foot, but if you really want to get around, a car is your best bet. If you don't mind biking long distances and up some steep hills, biking is also doable. The buses are a joke, so don't even bother. WorkingJET placementsThere are currently 2 JETs working in Katsuura City. They are responsible for teaching at 3 junior high school and 7 elementary schools. With 3 main schools and only 2 ALTs, Katsuura's system for handling ALTs is much different than most other cities. Both ALTs teach at all three middle schools simultaeneously according to a schedule given to them at the beginning of each term. In other words, an ALT will spend a few days at one school, the next few days at another, and the next few at yet another. All the while, the other ALT will be at a different school those same days. However, elementary schools are a different story. The seven schools are divided into blocks of 4 and 3 respectively (formerly 4 and 4 until one closed down). One ALT covers one block. Every month an ALT will visit each of their elemtary schools at least once. ALTs are generally in charge of planning these lessons by themselves, although a few schools, such as Okitsu Elementary and Ueno Elementary will use Eigo Noto for 5th and 6th grade. The Katsuura Board of Education is contained within Katsuura City Hall. It is a pretty laid back place, and meetings are neither regular nor are they frequent. The Head of the BOE is a former English teacher, and will talk to you if he is available. Furthermore, the section head is a former elementary teacher who is generally a pretty cool guy to talk to as well. Other than them, however, there are no former teachers at the BOE. The direct supervisor of the ALTs in Katsuura is nice old guy who speaks next to no English. The
